Laurelwood Arboretum

Laurelwood is renowned for its natural beauty, tranquility, and ability to connect people with nature. Its 30-acres feature woodland trails, several diverse gardens and collections of hundreds of varieties of azaleas and rhododendrons as the arboretum was once a nationally acclaimed commercial nursery. 

Laurelwood volunteers can learn about all kinds of plants or focus on those that spark your interest. Are azaleas your vibe? Maybe it’s natives, or perhaps lilacs. You will have the opportunity to learn all about gardening, enjoy a good time and make new friends as we share stories and laughs. Volunteers are rewarded with invitations to volunteer-only luncheons during the season.

We invite you to work Tuesday through Sunday, mostly from 9am -noon, but there are other opportunities as well. Outdoor opportunities consist of planting, pruning,  weeding, watering, general garden maintenance, giving guided tours, site maintenance of bridges, equipment and vehicles. Indoor opportunities include greeting visitors and offering information, membership recruitment and retention, fundraising, plant sales, working on educational and community programs, information technology, database management, and cataloging the arboretum’s plants.
